Stop smoking. Without the fight.

A two-part hypnosis programme by a psychologist from Berlin. Part One is free. Part Two is the decision.

You have probably tried before. With willpower, with patches or gum, with good intentions. This programme takes a different route. It does not take anything away from you that you then have to fight against. It first changes what the cigarette gives you, and only then do you make your decision, from a position of strength.

Two parts, one decision

Part One, The Good Feeling, is free. You get it by email and listen whenever you like; nothing is expected of you yet. Part Two, The Decision, is the audio you start when you are ready to stop. Together with the Companion Guide it is what you can buy on this page.

Listen first, then let your gut decide

Yes, you will hear a German accent. Listeners describe the voice as calm and unhurried. The best way to know whether it works for you is two minutes with your eyes closed:

You already know you want to stop

You know the reasons. Your health, the money, the smell, the guilt, the look on your children's faces. No smoker needs another lecture about the consequences of smoking. And still: the resolution holds for a few days, maybe a few weeks, and then comes that one moment when the hand reaches for a cigarette anyway.

The exhausting part is not the cigarette. It is the feeling of losing against yourself. Every failed attempt chips away at your trust in your own resolve, until at some point you start to believe you simply cannot do it.

It is not your willpower. The cigarette gives you something, and that is where we start.

Here is a truth that almost no stop-smoking method says out loud: your wish to smoke is legitimate. Not the cigarette, but what you are looking for in it. Those moments of calm, of relief, of breathing out, of a short piece of freedom in a stressful day. These are deeply human needs, and they do not disappear just because you forbid yourself to smoke.

That is exactly why most attempts fail. A ban leaves the need unfulfilled, and an unfulfilled need almost always wins against a resolution in the end. You are not fighting a cigarette. You are fighting your own, perfectly reasonable longing.

The lasting way round turns the order upside down. First you learn to reach that good feeling without a cigarette. Your body can do this; it has simply linked it to smoking. Only then do you make the decision against smoking. Not as sacrifice out of discipline, but as freedom out of strength. If you want the longer explanation, read the guide: why willpower is rarely enough to quit smoking.

First the feeling, then the decision

Strong and Free is not a short relaxation clip. It is a complete programme in two separate audios, and the gap between them is deliberate. You listen to Part One whenever you like. Part Two you start only when you are ready to stop: pressing play on it is, quite literally, your act of decision. You stay aware throughout and remain in charge the whole time.

Part One: The Good Feeling (20 minutes, free)

In deep relaxation you explore what the cigarette really gives you, and then experience, in your own body, that this very feeling of calm, fulfilment and aliveness is available without smoking. This experience is the foundation. It takes away the cigarette's most important weapon. Part One is free: enter your email on the sign-up page and it is yours within a minute.

Part Two: The Decision (30 minutes)

When you are ready, Part Two takes you to the decision itself. You feel the contrast between the strength of a smoke-free life and what smoking has actually been doing to you, and you anchor your resolve in your body with a simple gesture, one hand on your belly, one on your chest, so that it stays within reach in the typical trigger moments: coffee, stress, the end of the working day. Part Two is also your refresher: if you ever slip, you listen to it again to renew your decision.

The Companion Guide (PDF, 8 pages)

Your plan for the first 14 days: when to listen to which part, the three common stumbling blocks (food cravings, restlessness, sleep), your five trigger moments, and what to do after a slip, without turning it into a relapse.

What can change in your everyday life

  • The urge loses its power, because the need behind it gets a new, more direct route.

  • Stopping without a permanent battle. You do not force yourself, you decide. That is the difference that lasts.

  • Prepared for the critical moments. Stress, coffee, the pub, the end of the day: the typical triggers are worked through in hypnosis before they show up in real life.

  • Your self-trust comes back. Every smoke-free day as proof of your resolve, not as a day of going without.

And on the side: at today's prices, most smokers save the cost of this programme within a week or two, and then every week after that.

Who is speaking to you

I am a psychologist from Berlin. I trained at university (German Diplom in psychology, the equivalent of a master's degree) and have worked with people for more than twenty years. I learned hypnosis early in my career, and I write and record every one of my audios myself, in German for my listeners at home, and now in English.

My name is Jörg Böttcher. It is pronounced roughly “Yerg Betja”, but you are very welcome to simply think of me as the psychologist from Berlin.

What you hear in this programme is the approach I have refined over many years: no tricks, no aversion for its own sake, no promises. Just a calm, thorough way of helping you reach a decision that is really yours.

A word about the pause between the two parts. Some people start Part Two the same evening. Some wait a week, some a month. Starting Part Two is itself the act of deciding, and nobody can do that for you, least of all a recording. So take the time you need. Part One stays yours, and Part Two is there when you are ready.

Save the files to your phone, tablet or computer. The download link stays active for twelve months; the files themselves are yours for good.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Part One before I buy Part Two?

Yes, and it is free. Part One builds the good feeling without a cigarette; Part Two draws on exactly that experience. Get Part One on the sign-up page, listen to it once or twice, and come back when you are ready.

Do I need to have decided to quit before I start?

No. Part One asks nothing of you except twenty quiet minutes; you may even still be smoking. Only Part Two is for the moment you are ready to stop, and you choose that moment.

I have quit and started again more times than I can count. Why would this be different?

Because your previous attempts were probably built on going without and on willpower, and that is exactly what fails for most people. This programme starts one step earlier: with the need the cigarette has been meeting so far. Once that need has another route, the decision has something to stand on.

Why two separate audios?

Because the decision deserves its own moment. Part One lets you experience that it works without a cigarette. Then you take a break: have a drink, sit for a while, perhaps even smoke one; it may turn out to be your last. When you are truly ready, you start Part Two. Pressing play is the decision.

Will I lose control in hypnosis?

No. You remain aware the whole time and can open your eyes or stop whenever you wish. Hypnosis is a state of deep, focused relaxation, not a loss of control, and nothing like a stage show.

I am sceptical that hypnosis will work on me.

Clear-thinking, sceptical people often respond well, precisely because they stay focused. You do not have to believe anything. Listen to the sample and notice whether the voice carries you.

What about the accent?

I am German, and you will hear it. In a test with English-speaking listeners, almost all understood everything easily, and most described the voice as calm and professional. A few found the slow, even pace unusual; that pace is part of how hypnosis works. The sample above tells you in two minutes whether it suits you.

What if I slip?

The audio is yours for good. A slip is not a failure; it is a reason to renew the decision. That is exactly what Part Two is for: you listen to it again, and the Companion Guide has a chapter on what to do in the days after.

Does this also work for vaping and e-cigarettes?

The principle is the same: it is about the need behind reaching for nicotine, not the shape of the device. The wording refers to smoking; you can apply it to vaping just as well.

Is this therapy or medical treatment?

No. This is a self-help programme, not therapy. If you are heavily dependent or have health concerns, please also talk to your doctor (see the notes below).

How do I receive the files?

Payment is handled by Digistore24, a German payment provider. Immediately after payment you get a download link for the MP3 and the PDF, plus an invoice by email. Save the files to your phone, tablet or computer. The download link stays active for twelve months; the files themselves are yours for good.

What if it is not for me?

Then you get your money back, within 60 days, no questions asked. One short email is enough.
